Day 129: Catching up on Dallas (5/9)

When we went down to Dallas and visited South Fork, I picked up this book. I wanted to catch up on the previous seasons {the ones that were on year in the 80s} before the "new" Dallas comes back on air. I would not be able to watch that much TV, so this was the next best thing. I am excited to know some of the background infromation to some of the characters on the show.

Rennie talks about them all the time and now I will be bothering him with questions for a while!

Day 128: Book Fair Week (5/8)

 

 

LOVE book fair week! It's so fun for the kids and I always walk away with some exta books. Also, during this week I am not so busy and I get to relax on my lunch break and not work through it! I get to catch up on some reading. Whoot- Whoot!! :)

 



Day 107: The Emerald Atlas (4/17)

Great book! If you like Harry Potter, wizards and magic, this book series if for you.

Day 84: New Books (3/25)

Over spring break these books were delivered to the school. I am so excited I love new books {putting them away, not so much!} I already have my first four picked out! LOVE READING, I just hope I can find some time soon. :)

Day 49: Kindle Reading (2/18)

After reading about Chris Kyle in the news, I thought I would try his autobiography. I've enjoyed it so far and find it really interesting. Good read. 

Day 176: What to Expect...(4/16)

Finally got to pull these books out again! How exciting, I love to read and reading about our baby makes it even better. Even though this is my second pregnancy, I still love know how the baby is developing. 

Day 164: Book Review (4/4)

As you all know: I love to read!

I try not to put looks of books on my blog because I could recommend a lot of books. I really try to just put books up that are REALLY REALLY good!! 

So far my previous recommendations have been:

The Hunger Games

The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo

I think I have a pretty good record at recommending books!

This series isn't as good but I have really enjoyed it. Heres a quick summary:

High school sophomore Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when an asteroid knocks the moon closer to Earth, the way “one marble hits another.” The result is catastrophic. How can her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis are wiping out the coasts, earthquakes are rocking the continents, and volcanic ash is blocking out the sun? As August turns dark and wintry in northeastern Pennsylvania, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove.

It's a good read and there is another book in the series but I haven't go that far yet! ;)

Day 142: Books!! (3/13)

My largest order of books came in this afternoon, while I was working in the library! I am so excited. Even though it's lots of work, I enjoy every moment. I already have a few picked out that I want to read! What you are looking at is $6,373 worth of books. I have the best job!

Day 125: Book Heaven (2/25)

Today was my first adventure with the Metropolitan Library "Friends of the Library" annual book sale. I LOVE it but was sadly unprepared! I didn't have a bag or something to carry all the books that I wanted. The expo center at the state fair had rows and rows of book just like the two shown above. They were separated into genres and then hard cover or paperback. The paperbacks where only $0.50 and the hardbacks were $1. A-MAZ-ING! I bought 12 good books for $6.50. Those are the books in the top right of the picture box. Next year I will be more prepared and bring a bag or two...

PS - like my new picture app?? I will be using it a lot more in the future. It's really handy to show some of the same pictures without taking up so much room. :)

Day 98: New Author (2/8)

I found this new author: Jen Lancaster on the Metropolitan Library suggestions. One of the best things I ever found was the FREE ebooks on the OKC Public Library. I can check-out books for two weeks without leaving my couch! It has been a life changer!

Day 90: Book Conference (1/30)

I'm was in heaven for a little bit today!

I was at a professional development that was all about the new books of the year. The conference talked about new books this year and ways to use them in the classroom. I loved it! 

Not only was I given great ideas for my library but I also have added books to my personal list to read. I want to share my list in case of any other interested readers out there. These books are all young adult books but they are all promising. Look them up on Amazon if you are interested.

Day 79: Carts of Books! (1/18)

I don't have time to put books away!! This is a constant in my library and it hurts my stomach that I can't put these back on the shelves quickly enough. :)

Day 78: Kindle Fire (1/17)

I got a Kinde Fire!!

I love it. One of the best things about this is that I can loan Kindle books from the OKC Public Library write from my couch. 

It's a great investment and have enjoyed reading at all times. I hated having to find proper light to read and now I can read whenever I want. 

I love it!  

Day 66: Alter of Eden (1/5)

One of my new favorite authors to read: James Rollins. His books are in the sci-fi genre and throughly intriguing and a fast read. If you haven't read anything by him, definitely check him out! 

Day 45: Book: Plague (12/15)

This is the fourth book of the GONE series by Michael Grant. I have really enjoyed the books and wanted to say a young adult book if you may be interested. Fortunately the series isn't over, I think there will be two more books. Unfortunately, those books haven't been published yet, so now I just wait.

Day 20: My Bookshelves (11/20)

After years of dreaming, it finally happen: I have large beautiful bookshelves!

As long as I can remember I have always wanted bookshelves in my house. In fact, I've been saving books for years to put on my shelves. It has finally happened.

I love them and can't wait to add more of my favorite books on the shelves.

{PS I know that I have more books packed somewhere; it just a matter of finding them}

Day 14: My First Book Fair (11/14)

I have always LOVED the book fair.  

However, I have never ran one! It has been so much fun preparing for this book fair. I have so much more appreciation for the library staff on this one, it's a handful. 

I wouldn't change a thing. I have enjoyed setting up, being in charge, seeing what the kids buy and being there the entire time.

I will probably end up buying way to much. Shhh, please don't tell Rennie. I already have a pile set aside!

Day 3: My Library (11/3)

So I finally did it.

I went back to school for my Master’s degree!

I have started taking classes this year and was told by a friend that there were openings within the district for Media Specialist. {That’s just a cool way to say librarian.} I thought what would it hurt if I applied? So I did.

And I got the job!

The school that I came to was under MAPS {Metropilatin Area Projects} and the library was just finished. The only thing that I had were books and they were in boxes. I had a huge project in front of me but I tackled it and this was my end result.

I am pretty proud of it!

Day 122: Another Day in the Car (9/21)

Another day, another dollar. Gavin reading on the way home from OKC today. This drive is wearing me out already and we aren't even in October yet!

Day 104: Mockingjay (9/3)

I know, I know, it's not really MY picture but I have a wonderful excuse!  I was reading the books because the librarian at my school suggested them. Which by the way, has been one of the best recommendations of all time!

 The school had the books Hunger Games and Catching Fire but didn't have the Mockingjay. I just thought it was being loaned out but found out that the library can not buy new books for two year!!

What a shame!

So me being impatient went out and bought the Mockingjay and then donated it to the school.

I can't imagine students who enjoy reading as much as I do just reading the first two books of a series and not being able to read the last book!!

I had donated the book to the school before I took a picture and then went back to take a quick picture and it was checked out!! How wonderful.

So I think my excuse it worthy!!
