Day 101: The Hunger Games (8/31)

Another book recommendation!! This is a young adult series. It was so good, that  I checked it out after school and had it read during my lunch break! There are a total of three books and I can't wait to read the next two.

As small summary: It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight each other. The purpose of the Hunger Games is to show how no one, including children, is above the Capitol's power. The last person standing wins the game.

Day 100: DOG! (8/30)

After our trips home from the City whenever we pull up my parent's driveway, the first thing Gavin does is point out the window and say "DOG!" I'll say,"No, goat!" and after saying it three or four times he starts to say goat.

Everything that is an animal is a dog to Gavin!!

 It's so fun to watch him run over to the fence so he can see the goat and today the cows walked up to us and Gavin pointed and said, "DOG!"

PS- Yea!! I made it to 100 days! OK, OK so the last twenty-ish weren't my best work but I took pictures and published them. Here's to 100 more!!

Day 99: New Common Occurrence (8/29)

Now that school has started, this has quickly become a common occurrence.  Eating lunch at my desk and getting ready for the next hour, the next day, the next week...

Sometimes I wonder if people know how much work goes into teaching; how many hours we spend "off the clock" working to improve. Improve our lessons, our presentation or grading papers, worrying about a student, or thinking what if I did this instead of that. I have always told people that it's more than just 40 hours a week and once you leave the building it's not really over until May.

Day 98: Breakfast for Dinner (8/28)

I am not by any means the best cook. However, the food that I can make it pretty dang good!! :)

When we were younger my mom would make crepes (and if I know how to put the ' about the e, I would!) sometimes it would be fore special occasions and sometimes for no reason at all.

Those times were the best, when I would wake up to the smell of crepes and syrup. Then coming downs stairs and finding out that my sisters have claimed the next 6 to come off the stove. I would stand there and watch my mom make crepes until it was my turn to eat them. I don't know why we all couldn't just wait until she made them all and then sat down together to eat. I guess it was just the thought of eating them still pipping hot off the oven.

I have to admit that I make as close to my mom's crepe as I anyone. They are quickly becoming Rennnie and Gavin's favorite morning and evening food.

Especially when I make extra and Gavin can eat them for three more days!

Day 90: Jefferson Spirit Shirt (8/20)

I look rough because I just spent the two most hectic days at my new job. Please cut me a little slack!!

Day 82: Teacher Orintation (8/12)

Today, teachers start school. Literally.

Well, technically we start our jobs.  The kids don't start until next Thursday.  So we don't start teaching until then; right now we are being taught.  We have to go to meetings, profession development and the likes.

It's a-maz-ing. (Please note the sarcasm.)

This was pretty much what I looked at from 8:30 until 3:00. Thank goodness for early dismissal!!

I can't really complain, I did learn a few interesting things about Smart Boards and some great teacher resources.

My favorite website we were told about was funny exam answers. Teachers have scanned some real tests with some real (dumb) answers! It is hilarious!!

Day 80: It's a HOTT... (8/10)

Can you believe it? I can, I lived it!

Can you imagine it? Don't, it's like hell.

The weather here is ridiculous. No one wants to be outside. You just end up running (well walking quickly, if you ran you would be a dripping hot mess) from car to building, building to car.

One word:

Disgusting

Day 79: Mommy Necklace (8/9)

Thank you to my wonderful husband for allowing me to pick out my birthday present and wear it early.

Today, we were in OKC doing important things (like job interview, checking out homes, and finding a nanny.) When Rennie suggested we go to James Avery to get my birthday gift.

Instant gratification!! How could I say no?

So I was able to get exactly what I wanted for my birthday and get to wear it early. It was like a two for one!

Rennie did say that he was, "tired of buying jewelry." However, I can happily say, I have all the pieces that I need right now and won't be asking to get anymore, anytime soon. :)

Day 78: My Little Cheeser (8/8)

The first picture was taken yesterday at Rye's birthday and second one this morning after church.

My mom and I mentioned to Rennie about how when someone is holding a camera and we say Gavin's name he turns on this cheesing smile.

It's so funny that he knows to smile when the camera is on him. Does that say a lot about how often I take his picture?? :)

When we pulled out the camera to show Rennie that Gavin was cheesing we decided to test our theory again. He cheesed for us again!! It's so dang cute, how he squints up his eyes and smiles at the camera.

I ♥ him so much!!

Day 77: Rye's Birthday Party (8/7)

Today was Rye's 1st  Birthday Party.

Her birthday was actually August 5 but Dana and Jeff wanted to have her party on the weekend so that everyone could attend.

It was a wonderful time at the Bollman house. There were lots of children, great food and good times.

Day 76: The Last One (8/6)

Today we bought our last can of formula. Gavin is 11 months old and we think it's time to start him on cow's milk.

I really hope that this change will not be as hard as we may think -- Gavin really LOVES his formula.

I am excited to be saving as much as $100 per month by not buying formula anymore!!

Day 75: Grandpa Schluge's Funeral (8/5)

Holy Father, we thank you for the long and joy-filled life of Leon Schluge, who You love and whom we love. We trust in Your friendship and faithfulness, Lord as You so generously bestowed Your blessings on Your humble servant and our beloved husband, father, and friend...

Leon, who was the youngest of ten children to John and Mary Schluge;

Leon, who married Emily Helen Zanck and devoted his life to being a faithful husband for sixty-two years and a loving father;

Who worked at Western Electric throughout his entire thirty-six year career;

Leon, who proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy and was awarded three battle stars on board the USS Moctobi;

Who, while retiring with Emily to Stroud, Oklahoma devoted time every morning to his spiritual need by watching daily Mass on Eternal Word Television Network.

Who loved golfing, gardening, riding his bike, working in his garage and being in the company of wife, children, grandchildren, great-children and Mini-Choo-Choo.

Leon, who will be forever remembered and missed for his spirited laughter, his joy of story-telling and passion for life;

We pray that Leon will share the glory of Your love for all eternity.
Amen.

Day 74: My Mom and Dad (8/4)

This is such a great picture of my parents, Monica and Gary.

After I took it I said, "OK, now a real one."
My dad said, "What? Was that not a real one?"

Haha, so typical of my dad.

I love them so much for so many reasons. Right now, I want to take the time to say a, Thank You to them for all the support they have shown my family in our time of confusion. It's been a busy and hectic summer but I am so glad that I got to spend it at my parents house. :)

Day 73: The Barn (8/3)
