Day 181: Remember the Ten (4/21)

Rennie has been working so hard on his running and was so excited to participate in the Remember the Ten Run. It's an annual 5K, 10K, and Fun Walk to remember the OSU players and staff that died in the plan crash years ago.

Rennie ran 10K and was very proud of his time: 58:15.

He has been training to run the Memorial Run honoring those that died in the Murrah bombing. That's a half marathon so this race was a good idea to see how well he could do.

I am so proud of him.

Afterwards we walked around Stillwater and enjoyed all the free things they had to offer. Then went to the Spring Finale game to watch the Pokes play.

What a wonderful Saturday.

Day 153: James Harden (3/24)

Yep, my boy knows Harden!

Today we went to Dave & Buster's with Rennie's family and James Harden was there. Rennie and Susan creeped him and Gavin got his picture taken with Harden!

I love the OKC Thunder!

Day 146: My Biscuit (3/17)

Today started our softball season for Whoosh and WOW {our woman's team.} I didn't plan on playing much because we are trying so hard to get pregnant. It would be unfair for a team to pick up a girl and then have maybe have to drop her each month before I become pregnant. It just seems easy for both Rennie and me if I play more as a pick up or as needed player.

I ended up playing a little this weekend. In the very last game of the tourney, we weren't getting many strikes called for us in 40 mile per hour {I may exaggerate} winds. So Cheyenne was pitching this inning and we were losing pretty bad. Chey wasn't getting much calls so he looks at the batter and says, "Here's a biscuit for you!" Meaning: I am going to pitch a ball that you should hit the sh*t out of... And the man did, right at my leg. Honestly, I don't think I ever saw it. If I did I know I was getting out of the way of it!

I cried and this is what I like to call my biscuit.

It's freaking huge and hurts like a bitch when I walk for a long time or God-forbid I have to squat!

This is why I am taking this summer easy while we are trying to get pregnant, you just never know.

Day 107: Thunder Up! (2/17)

My friend Jennifer {we worked together at Jefferson} had tickets to the OKC Thunder game. She was so sweet to remember me and invited me to go with her! It was so much fun to go and just to catch up with Jen. I always enjoy events and the Thunder is so much fun to watch.

Thank you so much Jen!!

Day 95: Super Bowl Sunday (2/5)

Of course I spent the entire day with family and didn't pull out my phone once {honestly I found it in the car when we were leaving!}

So I cheated!

I got online and found some pictures of some key plays in the game that won it for the NY Giants. It was a great game. I always love close games and this Super Bowl came down to the last couple of plays.

Madonna was the half time show and I really enjoyed it. The graphics were amazing! I enjoyed the day and am upset that I didn't take pictures.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?!

Day 86: Surprising Game! (1/25)

We used to have Oklahoma State Men's Basketball season tickets. However as the years went on and other, more important things {Gavin} came up we let our tickets go. We weren't that upset because honestly the program has been on a slippery downhill slope and it wasn't the same Gallager-Iba that it used to be.

Tonight, Rennie had a friend offer free tickets to the Missouri game. I am assuming that they were free for many reasons but one being that Missouri was ranked #2 at the time and we had an under .500 record. It wasn't predicted to be a great game.

We went for old-times sake. It's so sad to see a half full GIA and it wasn't nearly as loud as it used to be. However, it was a GREAT game!

The Cowboys pulled off an amazing upset!! I always enjoy a great game in Iba. I <3 my Pokes!

Day 63: Fiesta Bowl (1/2)

WHAT AN AMAZING TRIP! I am not talking about the 30 hours in the car during the three day trip. The game was totally worth the entire trip. Here's our story about the Fiesta Bowl win:

We showed up to the stadium about 2 hours before game time {we were excited what can I say} and found our seats with Susan and Brian in the end zone. During this 2 hour break you can insert a small misunderstanding between Rennie and I about our seats. I think that sitting in the end-zone isn't one of the best seats in the stadium FOR ME! I can not tell where the ball is located on the field and how much gain or loss is made on the field during the play. Also the seats were directly under the jumbo-tron so when we wanted to see a replay we had to turn around to see it. Please don't take this as complaining. I wasn't, I was just stating my opinion on why the Alumni Association didn't give out what I thought could be better seats. I also couldn't tell if Weeden was passing or throwing until after the play. I guess I am so used to sitting along the side of a football field that sitting in the end-zone messed with my perceptions.

So after a quarter in these seats, Rennie finally agreed that we could move to other seats where some friends and Garvis and Sami were sitting. Honestly I could better appreciated the game from these seats. The jumbo-tron was easier to see, I could hear the announcer {the acoustics in the end-zone were apparently horrible} and I could see the play and players better. However, we were in the Stanford crowd but more about that later. So now that we were seated in our seats we could begin to watch this game.

Oh man, did we play horrible the entire game. Let me rephrase that, our OFFENSE play horrible. Our defense kept us in that game. I was so upset the entire game, upset with our team and pissed that we were going to lose this game. {I had no faith!} As the game wears down to the last seconds and Stanford is driving towards their end-zone for a field goal, Rennie says, "OK, you ready to head down?" Now I am NOT a fan of fans leaving early, I hate to do that but everyone else started down the stairs and I caved to peer pressure. Now I had the pleasure of walking down the stairs alone and all I heard all the way down were Stanford fans yelling at me for leaving early {like 0:03 is early in a game!!} but I kept my mouth shut because I agreed!

We get to the bottom of the tier and watch Stanford miss the field goal!

I was so pissed that I walked down those stairs!! Rennie turned to me and said you ready to go back? I thought Um, hell no! I just listen to those fans going down. No way was I listening to them going back up!! So we finished the game in the small area at the bottom of the stairs!

But what an amazing way to end the game! It was so worth the trip to Glendale, AZ and I am happy I was there to experience OSU's first BSC bowl game appearance.

Day 35: Showing Off (12/5)

My new wallpaper and I love when it goes up on the Smart board and it riles the kids up!

Day 33: OkState are Big 12 Champs (12/3)

The final minutes of the game and the fans rushing the field.

What an exciting night! As far as facts go Oklahoma University {ou} has dominated the Bedlam series. The record is 46-16-1 {now 17, thank you very much!} Nobody, not even Pokes are arguing that fact, but this year Oklahoma State is the better team. The Cowboys clobbered the sooners by a score of 44-10. It's an amazing feat with so much history against us. Oklahoma State has won their very FIRST BIG 12 Championship. Way to go, Pokes! We are forever proud that we won that game and in the fashion we did. It's fitting that the winningest team in Oklahoma State football history with a record of 11-1 was the first team to be Big 12 Champs.

Enjoy my pictures below because Rennie and I enjoyed the experience so damn much!
GO POKES!!

The new lettering! I heard that it was ready for the KanasState game but OkState waited until the Bedlam game to reveal it. Awesome!

The bands preformed a tribute to Budke, Serna and the Branstetters who were killed in a plane crash in November. They played Amazing Grace, it was a sight and sound to behold. Wonderfully done Oklahoma bands.

The fans taking the west end goal post out.
Rennie and I watched the fans storm the field and then pull out the goal posts before we made our way down onto the field.

My proof I was on the field!

Day 28: Beginning of Bedlam Week (11/28)

Yesterday I posted this as my Facebook status:
Rennie and I have planned to wear OSU shirts all week to school. I have a few teachers at school who are uo fans {I love you all except during Bedlam week! :D}

As always Rennie is up, around, and dressed before I even think about getting out of bed. My morning routine is as follows {except on days I take morning showers, I like night showers better}:

6:30 am - Rennie alarms goes off. He is up and in the bathroom!
6:45 am - Rennie comes out of bathroom and says, "Emily, it's 6:45."
6:50 am - I start to move around and wake Gavin up to head to the
               babysitters.
7:00 am - Rennie and Gavin are close to heading out the door. I am
               still in my PJs!
I have the next half hour all to myself as I get ready for school!!
7:30 am - Out the door and on my way to school.

So I usually don't see the inside of my closet until sometime after Rennie and Gavin have left. This morning in the closet was Rennie's OSU shirts. All four of them {he was already wearing one!} all pulled out and set aside. So I put  mine up too! However, I can almost guarantee that Rennie's shirts are in order while mine aren't... :\

Day 18: OSU Tragedy (11/18)

There are so many things that I want to remember about this day, so I thought I would use my blog as a reminder. The pictures above were found and seen on various websites.

For those of you that may not know November 18, 2011 will probably go down in OSU history as a day of loss. We lost so much today.
  • Kurt Budke- OSU Women's Head Basketball coach died in a plane crash on recruiting trip. The plane went down over AR sometime Thursday evening. It wasn't confirmed until Friday, November 18, 2011.
  • Miranda Serna- Assistant coach traveling with Budke was also killed in the plane crash.
  • The pilot and his wife, the Odermiers, were also killed. They were OSU Alumni.
  • The OkState football team was heading to the BSC National Championship game with a record of 10-0. We were ranked #2 in the BSC standings. The team was played Iowa State {an unranked Big 12 team} and was beat in double overtime 37-31. In losing this game we lost:
  • The BSC National Championship game
  • Brandon Weeden lost the Heisman Trophy
How can you be so upset with a 10-1 team, who by all means still has the opportunity to win the Big 12 Championship {something OSU has never done} and head to a BSC Bowl game {still a huge achievement}?

I don't want to lose anymore, I want to remember. Here are things I want to remember:

Orange is that day that you moved into the dorms as a freshman w/ lines for the elevator. It’s meeting those friends that would stick with you for life. It’s remembering those dorm buildings, even though they may not be there anymore. It’s wearing orange the Friday before the first game & every Friday after that. It’s KURT BUDKE, MIRANDA SERNA, Barry Sanders, John Smith, Garth Brooks, Mike Gundy, Eddie Sutton… it’s you and me. Orange is putting your arm around the shoulder of the stranger next to you to sing the Alma Mater. It’s making the switch to saying “Power” instead of “Orange.” It’s remembering Lewis Field & admiring Boone Pickens Stadium. It’s knowing that it’s left hand up to make an “S.” Orange is when it’s good for a Cowboy First Down and Ten. Orange is Pistols Firing – Touchdown Oklahoma State. It’s “...O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A Oklahoma STATE” no matter where you are when the state song is played. It’s the big smile on your face when you walk past the orange fountain. It’s going back to the place you worked in college & remembering it as the best job you ever had even though it paid the least. It’s a cabinet full of Joe’s cups. Orange is knowing that it’s time to go home when you hear “New York, New York” or “Shoulda Been a Cowboy.” Orange is the one you tried to let down easy & the one you’ll never forget. Orange is wanting to get out of Stillwater for four years & spending the rest of your life wanting to go back.

Proud and Immortal,
Bright shines your name.
Oklahoma State,
We herald your fame.
Ever you’ll find us,
Loyal and true.
To our Alma Mater
O – S – U!!!!

This is the link to an article that I found touching {it made me cry} the day after the loss of the Iowa state game.
OklahomaStateScout.com: November 18, 2011, is a day Oklahoma State will never forget. It was a day where OSU fans, players and coaches awoke to the news of tragedy and went to bed with the bitter taste of defeat.

A statues that I am proud of on Facebook the morning after. {I know that there is a typo but I couldn't delete it!}
I love this blog http://www.pistolsfiringblog.com. I read it daily and enjoy it, however thought the day I found this to be my favorite couple of lines.

I will always be
PROUD
IMMORTAL
LOYAL &
TRUE!

Day 6: OSU Football (11/6)

It's so exciting I had to post two pictures!

This is the highest ranking in school history. I am so glad that I get to see it and experience it. It makes for a lot of fun on Saturdays. I hope that we continue the streak and head to New Orleans!

GO POKES!

Day 4: ESPN: The Magazine (11/4)

My Dad knows me so well.

About two weeks ago, I recieved a postcard saying "You have a gift coming. Monica and Gary have ordered you ESPN: The Magazine. Your gift will begin coming soon."

Honestly my first thought was "Oh, wow! My mom is so sweet." I say this because my birthday was in August and she was asking what I wanted. I had told her that I would love to have a subscription to ESPN: The Mag. So please don't condemn me because I thought of my mom and not my dad.

My mom was on va-kay {for like the fifth time this year!} so I couldn't call her right away to thank her. Sorry, again I didn't think of my dad...

I am starting to sound like a horrible daughter. However, before you think that let me tell you a little things about my dad. I think for the most part my mom is the gift buyer for us girls in our family. Sometimes my dad doesn't know until my mom wraps it what they had gotten us for the special occasion.  Soooooo, my thought process was that if I called my dad to thank him he would say, "For what?"

My mom comes back {again from like her seventh va-kay} and I started to thank her for The Mag, and she says, "I didn't order it for you."

WOW,  my Daddy knows me so well.

He didn't even know that I had asked for the magazine or that I even wanted it.

My Dad knows me so well.
I love him and I love the things he does to still surprise me.

I do want to say that ordering me that magazine was a huge disadvantage to him.
I am kicking his but in our NFL game day picks...
