We were cleaning the garage and found a stack of pictures. This was one of them. Gavin is 18 days old.

Day 30: Dinner with Nana & PopPop (11/30)
Nana and PopPop came to dinner tonight! Gavin was so excited. He and PopPop have played with the trains all night. Gavin had Nana pretending like she was sleeping and tickled her awake. He loves his Nana and PopPop. <3
I wanted to take a picture in front of the fire and added the Christmas tree in it too! It looks so festive and fun.
Day 75: Grandpa Schluge's Funeral (8/5)
Holy Father, we thank you for the long and joy-filled life of Leon Schluge, who You love and whom we love. We trust in Your friendship and faithfulness, Lord as You so generously bestowed Your blessings on Your humble servant and our beloved husband, father, and friend...
Leon, who was the youngest of ten children to John and Mary Schluge;
Leon, who married Emily Helen Zanck and devoted his life to being a faithful husband for sixty-two years and a loving father;
Who worked at Western Electric throughout his entire thirty-six year career;
Leon, who proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy and was awarded three battle stars on board the USS Moctobi;
Who, while retiring with Emily to Stroud, Oklahoma devoted time every morning to his spiritual need by watching daily Mass on Eternal Word Television Network.
Who loved golfing, gardening, riding his bike, working in his garage and being in the company of wife, children, grandchildren, great-children and Mini-Choo-Choo.
Leon, who will be forever remembered and missed for his spirited laughter, his joy of story-telling and passion for life;
We pray that Leon will share the glory of Your love for all eternity.
Amen.
Day 37: Family History (6/28)
Almost every year, Grandma Schluge's sisters come down to Oklahoma to stay a few days. They came down during this week because on July 4th my grandma is having a rather large family reunion and they both wanted to be a part of the family gathering.
Grandma's sisters are Rita and Lori. They are my grand-aunts. It is a joy to come over and spend the day with them; what is just what Gavin and I did today.
In this picture, my mom made lunch and they all sat down to talk about family history. Mom has The History of Our Family book which she is determined to fill out properly and to the best of her ability. With "the girls" around the table she figured she can get a lot of family history.
It started out, who was born when, when and who did they marry and a lot of when did they die questions. It has turned in to a remember when session. It is so interesting to listen to them talk about the past and tell stories about the past.
I enjoy these days and I hope that Gavin will one day grow up and have the same opportunities to listen to remember when stories about our family and it's past. ♥
Day 8: Grandma/pa Schluge (5/30)
Project 365 is only ONE picture a day but I couldn't choose so you get all three!
Grandma and Gavin after a day of swimming. Grandma has 5 children of her own and from those 5 children she has 15 grandchildren and from those 15 grandchildren she has 9 great-grandchildren but 10 if you count the one that's on the way. (Not me!!) She has pictures all around the house and loves to tell anyone about all her babies! Today when Gavin didn't have any toys she got out some pots and spoons, got down on the floor with him and let Gavin go to town. We are very lucky that at this point in Gavin's life he has all 4 great-grandparents on my side of the family and 1 great-grandparent on Rennie's side of the family.
Grandpa's walker is the best toy!! Every great-grandchild who has visited has loved to play on the walker. Whether it's with the wheels or pulling themselves up on it! It is the best source of entertainment at their house. When Grandpa goes for a walk he has to navigate his way around the babies on the floor wanting to play with the walker.
I remember going to Grandpa's house when I was younger and he would sing so many different songs to us. Today when he held Gavin he sang the exact same songs. I can only hope that the tradition continues and Gavin will one day remember sitting on great-Grandpa's lap and listening to songs that are way older than he will ever be. I have Grandpa and Gavin on video singing some of the songs and it's something I will treasure for the rest of my life.
Grandma and Grandpa have a pool!! Gavin and I will be spending many days this summer at their pool. Rennie picked up this float today at Walmart. Gavin (and mommy!) loved it. He can still be in the water but isn't dependant on me to be in the pool!
