Day 44: EngageOK (7/8)

Today, Samantha and I attended the EngageOK professional development in OKC. We heard Joy Hofmister talk and attended two sessions today. Strategies to Engage and Motivation Students and and Engaging Students with Technology. It's a nice way to ease into August and nice to learn about new things over the summer. 

In addition, this picture also shows the great jean vest I got at Target on sale for $15 yesterday! Score!!

Day 20: Night out at Fassler Hall

This summer has been so much fun. The kids are all at a fun age. Eisley's personality is really starting to become known, Rallie and Wes are beginning to talk and learning so much and Gavin is a ball of energy. I haven't done much but hang out with them finding fun things to do, so most days when Rennie goes to work, Rallie and Wes say, "No, Mommy, bye-bye?" I love my kids but I need some time to myself.

So getting together with friends is such a blessing, tonight we went out to Fassler Hall in Midtown. I really have enjoyed moving back to Oklahoma City since leaving to move to Guymon. I love this City. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

This year is going to be so much fun because Sami is going to be working with me at Mayfield. Right now she is going to be the Reading teacher on our team. Tonight's get together was the first team Sam joined us. I look forward to this school year and I love that our teachers get together outside of school. It makes going to work much more fun when you work with friends.

Day 171: Grad Classes (4/11)

All my homework for the week is due on Wednesday at midnight. So most Wednesdays after school you will find me here on Blackboard completing my assignments. I only have two more semesters to go and then I will have my Masters in Library Science! Yea me!!

Day 29: Homework... (11/29)

Next week is the last week of school for this semester. I feel as if I am back in OSU doing some of the homework that I am doing. 

Our assignment was to make a graphic novel. I decided to create a story about Bedlam. 

It ain't pretty but it's done... 

Day 21: Catching Up (11/21)

Today around 2 o'clock I remembered that I had homework due in my Tech of Research class. 

I panicked!

I am a compulsive worrier when it comes to homework. For the most part, I am a solid A/B student and I am always on top of my homework. So when I figured out that I missed an assignment, my stomach started to hurt and I was distraught. Thankfully my teacher understood {it probably helps that I have an A in the class and never missed neither a class nor an assignment} and let me complete the assignment without a penalty.

Happy day in the end. :)

Day 129: OKC Public School Computer (9/28)

Working for OKC Public School (OKCPS) has it advantages. For starters, every teacher gets their own laptop. I had to wait for a bit on mine but I finally receive it earlier this month.

Because I am who I am, I could carry it in the boring black bag so I look around and found this Vera Bradley on Craigslist for a good deal!

I love it! It's so perfect for carrying the laptop everyday because a disadvantage of working for OKCPS is that you can't leave expensive stuff overnight at the school!

Day 108: City Bites Pumpkin Cookie (9/7)

Today I was asked to go to an Benchmark Test Question Review Forum. It wasn't as boring as it sounds. I kinda enjoyed it!! I know, I am kind of a dork.

However, a perk was that I was out of school early than usual. I picked up Gavin from the babysitters, which I never get to do, and then went on a lunch date just Gavin and I.

That day I didn't want fast food but didn't want to go all expensive either so I settled on City Bites (like a subway but a little nicer.)

And since it was a lunch date, we had to have dessert! I tried to pick out something that Gavin would like but was also tasty! Boy did I find the best thing ever!!

It's a pumpkin cookie with cream cheese icing!!

If you have ever had a pumpkin roll, it's the exact same taste but a cookie. I ♥ it!

Definitely try it!

Day 104: Mockingjay (9/3)

I know, I know, it's not really MY picture but I have a wonderful excuse!  I was reading the books because the librarian at my school suggested them. Which by the way, has been one of the best recommendations of all time!

 The school had the books Hunger Games and Catching Fire but didn't have the Mockingjay. I just thought it was being loaned out but found out that the library can not buy new books for two year!!

What a shame!

So me being impatient went out and bought the Mockingjay and then donated it to the school.

I can't imagine students who enjoy reading as much as I do just reading the first two books of a series and not being able to read the last book!!

I had donated the book to the school before I took a picture and then went back to take a quick picture and it was checked out!! How wonderful.

So I think my excuse it worthy!!

Day 102: Catching Fire (9/1)

The second book the the Hunger Games. I started the same day I finished the Hunger Games. I know I won't be able to read this one as fast. It's not the weekend!

Day 101: The Hunger Games (8/31)

Another book recommendation!! This is a young adult series. It was so good, that  I checked it out after school and had it read during my lunch break! There are a total of three books and I can't wait to read the next two.

As small summary: It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight each other. The purpose of the Hunger Games is to show how no one, including children, is above the Capitol's power. The last person standing wins the game.

Day 82: Teacher Orintation (8/12)

Today, teachers start school. Literally.

Well, technically we start our jobs.  The kids don't start until next Thursday.  So we don't start teaching until then; right now we are being taught.  We have to go to meetings, profession development and the likes.

It's a-maz-ing. (Please note the sarcasm.)

This was pretty much what I looked at from 8:30 until 3:00. Thank goodness for early dismissal!!

I can't really complain, I did learn a few interesting things about Smart Boards and some great teacher resources.

My favorite website we were told about was funny exam answers. Teachers have scanned some real tests with some real (dumb) answers! It is hilarious!!
