Day 53: True Value Tech (7/17)

The other day, my dad called me and said he needed me to create something for their new hardware store, True Value. After working for years at McDonald's my parents thought they needed to start thinking of retirement. If you know anything about my parents dad, you know that change isn't his thing. He's talked about doing similar things but never buckled down to get it done. However, this time they did it!! They bought the hardware store in Stroud. They've learned to manage it and run it daily. They took over this summer, starting June 1st.

On August 1st, they are planning a grand reopening party. Dad wanted some things created to put in the paper. He called me to help. I'm good on computers. It doesn't take me long to figure something out or create needed documents. I would like to take a coding class that's another post! So whenever my parents need some help with technology they call me. I enjoy it! I feel involved. Dad had me create the above postcard for the paper.

I brought the twins and Sami with me to Stroud. They love being at the store. For my fee, I required dinner out. Mom took us to the new Chinese restaurant on Main street. Rallie never left Nana's side.

If your on Facebook and haven't yet, you need to like: Stroud True Value.

Day 44: EngageOK (7/8)

Today, Samantha and I attended the EngageOK professional development in OKC. We heard Joy Hofmister talk and attended two sessions today. Strategies to Engage and Motivation Students and and Engaging Students with Technology. It's a nice way to ease into August and nice to learn about new things over the summer.

In addition, this picture also shows the great jean vest I got at Target on sale for $15 yesterday! Score!!

Day 128: Book Fair Week (5/8)

LOVE book fair week! It's so fun for the kids and I always walk away with some exta books. Also, during this week I am not so busy and I get to relax on my lunch break and not work through it! I get to catch up on some reading. Whoot- Whoot!! :)

Day 107: The Emerald Atlas (4/17)

Great book! If you like Harry Potter, wizards and magic, this book series if for you.

Day 98: Kindergarten Books (4/8)

This week the kindergartners are learning about insects. So what I do is pull all the books in the library that we have on bugs {fiction and nonfiction} and put them in a place where the kids can get to them easily. I love my job!

Day 92: Parent University (4/2)

Had to say after school tonight, I was promoting two books and made pigs in a blanket and lemonade. It was fun but I am exhausted. The babies were still up when I got home, at least I got to see them for a few minutes today.

Day 84: New Books (3/25)

Over spring break these books were delivered to the school. I am so excited I love new books {putting them away, not so much!} I already have my first four picked out! LOVE READING, I just hope I can find some time soon. :)

Day 71: My New iPad (3/12)

As a LMS, I was able to get a new iPad from school. We are to use them for school use but they are ours until we leave our positions as librarians in the school district. I'm excited to be able to use one. I've felt like I've never really need one buts fun to be able to test one out for a bit and see if it's an necessary tool for out house hold. I haven't let Gavin play with it yet. I don't want hi to realize it's like a big iPhone. He would take it over. I'm one lucky girl.

Day 63: Dang Kids (3/4)

This is what happens when I am alone checking out Kindergarteners, they dump these books off the shelves and then run out of the library without even picking them off the floor. I know that they can't return them to the shelf but at least pick them off the floor!!

Day 42: Feeding the Babies (2/11)

Today, I went back to work.

I left the house early to talk to the babysitter about what Rallie and Wes like and what to expect, however I started crying as soon as Wes smiled at me while taking him out of his car seat. I had to leave or I was going to break down.

I've been pumping for a while. The babies like the bottle better {maybe because they don't have to work at getting fed!} So I pump most days and will continue to do so at work. It's one thing I do not enjoy about having a baby. I wish there was an easier way to give them breast milk.

I did make it through the day.

Day 28: Only 2 More Weeks (1/28)

Only two more weeks with these precious babies and then it's back to work. :(

Day 16: Crock-pot Chicken (1/16)

Staying home has given me the chance to be a stay at home mom for a bit {something that I would like to do but alas...} I take care of my babies, done laundry and dishes, kept the house organized and cooked dinner.

Today I decided to repeat a crock-pot meal that Rennie and I have enjoyed. It's Swiss Cheese Chicken. I started it today around 11 and it will be done in 8 hours around 7 tonight.

I have enjoyed the stay at home duties and cooking dinner has been fun. I honestly thought that's what I would hate but have enjoyed it most {besides being with my babies!}

Day 142: Books!! (3/13)

My largest order of books came in this afternoon, while I was working in the library! I am so excited. Even though it's lots of work, I enjoy every moment. I already have a few picked out that I want to read! What you are looking at is $6,373 worth of books. I have the best job!

Day 130: Warehouse Surplus Give-Away (3/1)

Today I was scheduled for an OUHCS warehouse surplus give away. For an hour, my friend Angelica and I were able to wade through old office supplies and take what we need for the library. I really went for cabinets {top left} and found so many other things. The cabinets will store textbooks in the a storage room. The chair {bottom left} was an amazing find and we got two of them. Don't they just look like library chairs?!

We also found a DVR/VCR and a calculator still in the box {top right.} Who couldn't use their own microwave, stapler and pencil sharpener {middle right} in the library. Is it kinda sad I didn't have a pencil sharpener until today?!!

We also made out with a rolling cart and external speakers {bottom right!!} The speakers where the best find and I got two pairs!! External speaker for FREE! Amazing. I also came away with some computer chords that start out around $25 and some other chairs that we picked out for the principal. {You know stay on the good side :)}

It was so unbelievable awesome to stumble across this give away!! The cabinets will be my spring break project in the library. Yea!

Day 90: Book Conference (1/30)

I'm was in heaven for a little bit today!

I was at a professional development that was all about the new books of the year. The conference talked about new books this year and ways to use them in the classroom. I loved it!

Not only was I given great ideas for my library but I also have added books to my personal list to read. I want to share my list in case of any other interested readers out there. These books are all young adult books but they are all promising. Look them up on Amazon if you are interested.

The Friendship Doll - Kirby Lawson
Sylvia & Avi - Winifred Conkling
Dead End in Norvelt - Jack Gantos
Wildwood - Colin Meloy
Jefferson's Sons - Kimberly Bradley
No Passengers Beyond this Point - Gennifer Choldenko

I am so excited to have new books to add to my ever growing list of books to read!

Day 74: Library Bond Money (1/13)

This semester we have received approximately $7 per student to spend on materials for the school library. So I have around $12,000 to spend in the next month on items for my library!!

You would think that getting to spend almost $12,000 in books would be an exciting job, well it is! However, I have spent at this time around $5,500 and it's taken me a week. It has been way harder than I thought to spend that kind of money!

I am enjoying this process and am learning so much. Who wouldn't love a job and where you get to buy books all day?!?!!

Day 43: Prof. Development on Christmas Break... (12/13)

Even though school is out for the teachers, the media specialists {fancy words for librarian} are contracted until this Thursday. So from Monday until Thursday, I am either working in my library or participating in professional development. I am doing this knowing that Rennie and Gavin are at home and I'm not... how exciting!

Day 37: True Life Fortune (12/7)

Without going into any details {because some things just do not need to be on the internet} this fortune was in my cookie today. It's kinda spooky when things like this happen but my fortune will be followed.

Day 22: A Thanksgiving Feast (11/22)

Britton Elementary, the school that I work at, has a Thanksgiving feast for all the kindergarteners. The students each bring something to share at this feast and they set up a long "table" on the ground so that all the students can experience eating together like the pilgrims and indians did in the beginning. It just looks fun, doesn't it?!

Day 15: Late Night at Britton (11/15)

Not going to lie. This will be a boring post. I had to stay at school until 8:00 PM tonight.

The school put on a Poetry Night and I decided to keep the book fair open through it. I need to make that money! So this is my post, a picture of my school. Original I know but I am tired and ready to play a little with Gavin and then head to bed.
